First time out

When someone puts a nice shiny tool in front of you, it's hard to resist messing around with it.  I remember reading about the AI lab at MIT, when Marvin Minsky was the ruling sachem -- there was a great story of him wandering through the central lounge where all the young hackers would hang out (when they weren't wiring something, or slaving away at their PDP, or at Mary Chung's for Szechuan food)-- and putting a robotic arm on the coffee table, and wandering away.  The students gathered around, and pretty soon they'd hooked it up to a computer, and were messing about to see what they could make it do...Generative.
Of course, the more media you express yourself in, the more subdivided your cognitive self becomes.  Nevertheless, here goes nothing.

But Brian, what would you like us to talk about?

I thought the first topic was entertainment, but I was distracted by the whole experience of trying out a new technology. I will be more to the point in the future -- except when I can't help it.
